Microsoft Education Cloud Transition Agreement

Microsoft MoU 2013 expired at the end of 2015, replaced by the Education Cloud Transition Agreement – which continues to provide UK specific discounts to UK Schools.

Any school who does not currently have an OVS-ES licensing agreement has until the end of June 2016 to start a new 1 or 3 year term agreement and take advantage of current UK specific discounts until their next renewal after July 2018.

If a school starts a new 1 or 3 year term OVS-ES after July 2016, then their UK specific discounts would be reduced – when compared to a customer signing up now.

The up to date discount is not UK specific and is available to any new OVS-ES agreement customer who;

  • Has never had a Microsoft OVS-ES or School agreement in the past
  • Is bringing perpetual (Select Plus, Open, OEM,FPP) licenses with them into the new agreement
  • Takes a 3 year OVS-ES agreement term

Up to date offers 50% discount for the first year of a 3 year OVS-ES agreement on the desktop products (Office, Windows upgrade, CAL suite). Years 2 and 3 will revert to the standard pricing which was locked in at the start of the agreement term.

So to sum up – if a school signs a brand new 3 year OVS-ES agreement before July 2016 they can take advantage of the discount specific to the UK (which are similar to MoU 2013) and they can benefit from 50% Desktop discount in year 1.
