Supporting the Government by deploying Digital Education Platforms
We are part of the UK Government national effort to ensure all English Schools, Academies and Multi-Academy Trusts have a digital learning platform in place to support remote learning. This is a key requirement to ensure all England schools comply with The Coronavirus Act 2020 Provision of Remote Education and meets a Government objective of moving schools to the cloud.
As of 24th April 2020, the Department for Education (DfE) announced that schools in England and responsible bodies can apply for a grant to have either Google Workspace for Education or Microsoft 365 for free. More details on how to access the digital learning platform funding grant can be found here.

Useful Resources for Businesses
To meet point 5 of the Technology Code of Practice and the government’s cloud first policy, your plans must show you’ve considered using cloud computing before other options.
Cloud computing is a way of storing and retrieving data and software over the internet without buying your own hardware. The 3 main types of cloud computing service you can use are:
- software-as-a-service (SaaS), which provides applications over the internet
- platform-as-a-service (PaaS), which provides platforms for developing, testing and deploying your applications over the internet
- infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), which provides the virtual infrastructure or network you need to host services over the internet
