The Requirement
Paradigm Trust, a not-for-profit educational trust with schools in Ipswich and Tower Hamlets, aims to create great schools that make a significant difference in students' lives. Upholding values of integrity, excellence, and community, Paradigm is committed to improving and embracing a digital policy across its schools, where Google Chromebooks are predominantly used in a near 1:1 pupil and staff ratio. To achieve this, they applied for funding from the Department for Education (DfE) under the 'Connect the Classroom' grant and sought a solution to enhance network speed and capacity, ensuring ease of maintenance and leveraging cloud solutions wherever possible.
The solution needed to deliver a robust and scalable Wi-Fi network that accommodates current and future needs. Seamless roaming across all sites and offices was essential, along with network segmentation to maintain security and data protection. Scalability was paramount, allowing for the addition of devices and increased network demand without disrupting critical school systems or hindering students' e-learning experience.
The Solution
Levett Consultancy, a UK Government Framework Supplier, designed and implemented a high-speed wireless network for a Multi Academy Trust. The solution, based on D-Link's Nuclias cloud infrastructure, utilised DBA-X2830P access points to provide a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi 6 network across the entire campus. DBA-2000 switches were also employed to power and connect these access points, further streamlining the installation.
This ensured the fastest possible connectivity for students and staff, while PoE switches simplified installation and management. Additionally, the seamless network experience allowed users to move freely between academies without switching networks, increasing efficiency and saving time.
The Outcome
The implementation of the 'Connect the Classroom' project proceeded smoothly from design to implementation, with full communication and involvement throughout the process.Darren Bloom (Head of Estates and Systems Manager) Paradigm Trust
