About the Customer
The Challenge
As part of the Arbor Academy Trust’s wider ICT strategy, Woodford Green Primary needed to modernise its infrastructure to support a 1:1 and shared Chromebook model. The existing network was a barrier to modern pedagogy; the school required a flexible learning environment where staff and pupils could move seamlessly between classrooms and outdoor spaces without losing connectivity.
Key requirements included:
- Full integration with Google Workspace for Education to streamline device management.
- A robust wireless mesh capable of supporting high-density Chromebook usage.
- Alignment with the Trust’s central D-Link Nuclias platform for unified, multi-site infrastructure management.
- The ability to push network configurations directly to Chromebooks via the Google Admin Console.
The Solution
The Levett Consultancy Project Delivery Team designed and implemented a modernised network solution, deploying a cloud-managed infrastructure featuring the latest switching and wireless technologies.
Managed via the PRINCE2 methodology, our team oversaw the end-to-end digital transformation across two distinct phases:
- Phase One: Infrastructure Core We deployed Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) Access Points and managed switches to create a high-speed backbone capable of supporting modern teaching and learning requirements. During this phase, our team also managed the appointed cabling subcontractors, ensuring new cabinets were installed and all cabling was professionally labelled for streamlined management.
- Phase Two: Integration & Accessibility The second phase focused on integrating the network infrastructure with Google Workspace. By leveraging built-in networking functions, we ensured that Chromebooks connect securely and roam effortlessly across the school estate. This provides seamless access to learning resources without requiring manual network sign-ins from end users.
Completion and Continuity
The project concluded with a comprehensive handover. Our team fully documented the solution configuration and updated the network map within the Arbor Academy Trust’s central change management database to ensure robust business continuity.
The Outcome
Woodford Green Primary now boasts a fast, reliable, and invisible infrastructure that empowers rather than restricts. By removing the tether of traditional desktop computing, the school has achieved a truly flexible learning environment where staff and students use Chromebooks anywhere on the premises, facilitating collaborative e-learning and fluid group work.
This transition has also improved centralised efficiency, as the D-Link Nuclias cloud platform allows the Trust to manage the network remotely, reducing the need for on-site IT support. Ultimately, these scalable foundations align with Levett Consultancy’s ‘Your Cloud’ strategy, providing a robust platform that supports the school’s long-term digital roadmap.
Levett Consultancy has successfully transitioned our school to a flexible learning environment. By integrating D-Link Nuclias with Google Workspace, they have ensured that Chromebook connectivity is reliable across the entire site. The project was delivered to a high standard, providing a robust network that allows our staff and pupils to focus on cloud-based teaching and learning.Jason Cook - Executive Principal
