Foxdell Primary School in Luton is a split-site primary school encompassing an infant and junior sites separated over 0.5 miles. The ethos of the school is to inspire and empower children to become confident, independent, lifelong learners. We foster compassion and tolerance in every child, and provide a broad and balanced education to ensure they have the best possible start on their learning journey.

A number of servers in both schools were approaching end of life and the school leadership wanted to take this as an opportunity to join both schools together. Where staff and pupils can work across both schools with a common identity to access their devices and local resources effortlessly. Due to reliance on some critical applications the school required a hybrid environment where servers are connected to Google Workspace.

Levett Consultancy Project Management Team worked with the school IT Network team to plan, develop and deploy a hybrid cloud /server environment. The solution also provided enhanced productivity and classroom tools to create a flexible learning environment.

The first task was to upgrade Google Workspace for Education Fundamental to the Education Plus edition to provide the foundations for implementing hybrid server environments using Google Credential Provider for Windows (GCPW) to create a common identity environment.

Once the Google Workspace platform was configured our project delivery team locally deployed GCPW and Google Drive for Desktop to allow end users access their data with their common identity effortlessly.

The final part of the project was to ensure Wonde Sync was provisioned to sync the schools MIS with Google Classroom, ensuring staff and student data is always kept up to date automatically. To ensure business continuity of the solution SaaS Protection backup was also implemented so all the School data held within Google Cloud is backed up.
